How I came to write Pim
People often ask how I came to write Pim. It seems like a thousand years since I discovered Pim, or that Pim discovered me. Thankfully I kept detailed notes and saved photos from that time. While I can’t swear to the absolute accuracy of what you are about to read, I have done my best to capture the essence of how Pim entered my life.

Ukifune and the Well-Dressed Albatross left the tea-shop and proceeded to an all night vendor of unusual edibles.

Clive came upon a door that might deliver him from the time and place that he’d inadvertently been shunted into. Clive was characteristically sceptical of the door’s utility, efficacy, and benevolence.

Ukifune was allowed a 20 minute break at 4:00 a.m. so she and the Well-Dressed Albatross found an all night tea shop where they discussed how best to defeat the evil scheme of Mr. Love and his nieces.

The very moment that Ukifune and the Well-Dressed Albatross met at the morgue, Meg and Peg lost contact with them on the surveillance device (Slim having pulled a few wires leading into the Power Station).

On the verge of his first foray into the cranium of an unclaimed body, imagine the WDA’s surprise when he looked up to see Ukifune.

Unable to carry out a deed of such darkness, the Well-Dressed Albatross concocted a plan to, indeed, deliver a brain—just not Ukifune’s. He was less than confident his deception would go undiscovered.

As instructed, the Well-Dressed Albatross checked into the stark and lonely hotel that Meg and Peg had booked for him, and found therein a briefcase and an assortment of sinister tools.

The closer the Well-Dressed Albatross drew to Ukifune, the farther he grew from his resolve.

Slim found Meg and Peg on the floor of a disused Power Station, monitoring Ukifune’s movements. Perhaps that’s the future: x watching y watching z… to infinity. The prospect saddens this author.

On arriving in Osaka, Ukifune organized her cookie boxes into an orderly pyramid and surveyed the new territory from a great height (still unaware that Meg and Peg had her under surveillance.)
