How I came to write Pim
People often ask how I came to write Pim. It seems like a thousand years since I discovered Pim, or that Pim
discovered me. Thankfully I kept detailed notes and saved photos from that time. While I can’t swear to the
absolute accuracy of what you are about to read, I have done my best to capture the essence of how Pim entered my life.
Awaiting their order of huevos rancheros by the owl-light of a 40 watt bulb, Clive and Ifny were joined by the Well-Dressed Albatross who brought with him to their table a tall cold beverage.
Hours into a heated discussion about the nature of mathematics, Clive and Ifny realized they were hungry. They continued to bicker on their way to dinner.

From that moment on, Clive and Ifny were in continuous disagreement over mathematical propositions, and almost as inseparable as Pim and Bim.

However, on discovering that Ifny had an ostrich brain and might prove a worthy peer, Clive brought her inside and showed her what he’d been working on. Ifny was underwhelmed.
Clive was NOT happy about Ifny’s arrival.
By morning Ifny had extricated herself from the wreck and made her way over mountains to the only structure in sight.
Only the Well-Dressed Albatross (having bailed at the last moment) and Ifny (being largely inanimate) survived when the plane went off course and ended up somewhere oddly familiar.
Hours into the flight, passengers and crew ran out of things to say to each other and dozed off.

The trip began to feel long for both passengers.
