How I came to write Pim
People often ask how I came to write Pim. It seems like a thousand years since I discovered Pim, or that Pim discovered me. Thankfully I kept detailed notes and saved photos from that time. While I can’t swear to the absolute accuracy of what you are about to read, I have done my best to capture the essence of how Pim entered my life.

Brad awoke to find Ukifune’s bed empty and a note left on the bedding. She’d taken the kickboxing gear with her but left the cribbage board.

That night Ukifune had a dream which contained a set of instructions for how to escape from the jail.

Mr. Love moved conspicuously beneath the institutional lighting of the math department’s stark corridors just waiting for Clive to fall into his trap. And he did.

Mr. Love broke into Ukifune’s old room to discover the the math notes, by which he might deliberately incriminate himself. He was leaving the room just as Clive made his nightly walk-by.

Realizing the job would only get done if he did it himself, Mr. Love contrived a stratagem.

Nightly, following his last class, Clive would wander past the dorm room Brad and Ukifune had occupied. Despite the fact that its emptiness was always the same the ritual had become an obsession.

The Well-Dressed Albatross was thrilled to rediscover old friends. Seeing a business opportunity, a local entrepreneur opened a tiki bar outside the jail.

Once again Mrs. Love had left Mr. Love with no course but a road back to the city of dreadful night, where what light there was only made darkness visible.

To pass the time in jail Brad and Ukifune took up kickboxing and cribbage.
