How I came to write Pim
People often ask how I came to write Pim. It seems like a thousand years since I discovered Pim, or that Pim discovered me. Thankfully I kept detailed notes and saved photos from that time. While I can’t swear to the absolute accuracy of what you are about to read, I have done my best to capture the essence of how Pim entered my life.

Prior to Brad’s tenure the newts were in the care of Meg and Peg, who’d abandoned them to pursue evil operations for their Uncle, in London, Brad explained to Ukifune.

Imagine her surprise when Brad opened the door. As Ukifune predicted, the recent brain injury had made university study impossible and he’d taken a job house-sitting for a brittle yet enduring branch of the Love family, said to be on sabbatical in Illa de Tagomago.

A set of inquires (accompanied by fair cookie sales) took Ukifune to the next station of Mr. Love’s past: a lone carpenter gothic house encircled by uniform emerald cedars that stood like sentinels, or like a Druidic altar to Nwyfre.

Having developed a fatherly affection for Ukifune, the Well-Dressed Albatross was distraught at having misplaced her again and, at a patio bar on the Thames, ruminated on their time together.

After Ukifune departed Meg and Peg ascended to the roof of the power station where they conversed about their prospects and watched Ukifune in her watercraft, as good a metaphor as any for how life is a cork bobbing upon the river of fate, that carries us we know not whither.

The Vivians didn’t expect an approach by water, and were neglecting surveillance as they gleefully analyzed footage of the WDA trying to remove his own brain. So they were completely surprised when Ukifune loomed up, seeming to have acquired height along with advantage.

The first relatives of Mr. Love that Ukifune was able to locate were his nieces, Meg and Peg Vivian. She approached their centre of operations by way of the Thames, in a boat of her own devising.

Preëmpting Mr. Love’s assault, Ukifune used Chin Na defence strategies she’d learned in Girl Scout training to disable him, remove his brain, and enclose it in the briefcase with which she hastened from campus (having decided that higher education was not for her.)

Unable to find a partner, Clive nevertheless accompanied Pim and Bim to his first tango class. Two nongendered amphibians dancing the tango together and an ostrich dancing it solo is a image beyond the reach of this artist. I ask that you push your imagination to its limit.

As requested, Ukifune remained in the lecture hall as her fellow students dispersed into study and undergraduate amusements. After dimming the lights with the remote Mr. Love opened his ‘briefcase’ and addressed Ukifune.
