How I came to write Pim
People often ask how I came to write Pim. It seems like a thousand years since I discovered Pim, or that Pim
discovered me. Thankfully I kept detailed notes and saved photos from that time. While I can’t swear to the
absolute accuracy of what you are about to read, I have done my best to capture the essence of how Pim entered my life.
The storm passed, offering the Well-Dressed Albatross vistas of devastation: The drowned. The saved.
The limo driver DID drown and floated to the surface inert as his sunken cab. This stranded Slim in the floodwater.
Slim’s trip to the five star hotel ran into an obstacle.
And moments later Pim and the Well-Dressed Albatross were under the deluge.
Seeing the approaching weather Slim called a limo to take him to a five star hotel, unbeknownst to Pim and the WDA.
The flood was so great that it swept Gim seaward and downward to the oceans’ deepest trench.
The rain fell and fell until it became a flood, whisking Gim away on its flow.
Slim grabbed the phone from the WDA, proposed a toast to Gim’s riddance, and then a cloudburst killed the call.
The sound of the bar’s wall-phone–which almost never rang–immediately drew a well-tailored appendage.
