How I came to write Pim
People often ask how I came to write Pim. It seems like a thousand years since I discovered Pim, or that Pim
discovered me. Thankfully I kept detailed notes and saved photos from that time. While I can’t swear to the
absolute accuracy of what you are about to read, I have done my best to capture the essence of how Pim entered my life.
Preparatory to a new chapter in the narrative of Gim’s life, Gim often experienced a sense of falling through space.
Gim took 1 year, 11 months 30 days, 7 hours and 4 minutes to reach the airport. Thereafter Gim travelled more rapidly.
Working largely alone, Slim took on several initiatives and then did 18 months in a jar.
Once a day, every day, for 730 days, Pim stopped along the way to preserve an endangered species.
For two years the Well-Dressed Albatross attached itself to the voyage of a single ship.
Four companions who set out four directions and follow a straight line will eventually meet again. Somewhere.
When the directive came to evacuate the spa, the companions discovered they were its sole guests.
At 9:51, following a skirmish with the server and maitre d’, Slim left the dining room. Gim never arrived at the dining room.
At 8:57 Pim left the finished breakfast and left the dining room. At 9:02 Slim arrived at the dining room for breakfast.
