Impulsively, and with no apparent motivation, Pim arose, left the house, and immediately found the world to be inexplicable without Bim. Sensing Pim’s absence, Bim awoke.

To Millicent’s astonishment Brad’s first assignment as Quantity Surveyor was an unqualified success.

Winnifred Pinchbeck worked at a dollar store and lived above it. In her spare time she composed verse. Millicent enjoyed dropping in on her sister unannounced, to confirm that Winnifred was the disappointment she’d always been.

Feeling a certain responsibility for the accident, Pim and Bim had their Harley Davidson reconfigured into a convalescent home for harmed albatross.

Bim and Pim pulled over to discover they had run over the Well-Dressed Albatross, on his way to see Pagliacci at the Bellas Artes. Thankfully Ukifune was crossing the street at the time and had just earned her gold level badge in Albatross care.

The Well-Dressed Albatross passed out from drink and had to be carried down to his suite. As Brad couldn’t afford the hotel, he had no choice but to wander the streets of Tlalpan where he ran into Pim and Bim (who are always happy to give anyone a ride anywhere on their Harley.)

From the balcony of a three star Marriott in Tlalpan—comfortable yet affordable at her Bonvoy rate—Millicent observed the fellowship of Brad and The Well-Dressed Albatross at a neighbouring rooftop. It irked her. Much as gods are said to be irked by the fellowship of mortals.

After the interview, Millicent followed Brad into a labyrinth of condemned housing projects and bankrupt transit lines. Knowing that no good comes of spare time, Millicent spent hers scrutinizing those who fell below her standards.

Unemployed once again, Brad sought work as a Quantity Surveyor for an architectural firm. He’d stopped being surprised at how the past was always returning to him.

Millicent Pinchbeck didn’t think much of the Ghouls, who were trying to remain fit in a horizontal environment.
